EVs with Google Maps will make it easier to plan journeys around charging

Cars with built-in Google Maps benefit from a few additional features which should make it easier to plan trips around charging stops. Google uses graph theory in its latest routing algorithms to help you determine the best way to get to your destination. If your trip requires more than one charging stop, Maps will examine thousands of public charging stations to determine the most efficient route in under ten seconds, according to Google. The application will note the time it takes to charge your electric vehicle at each stop, as well as the total duration of your trip, including charging.

For shorter trips that only require a stop, Maps will display a list of charging stations. You can choose a place where you can charge your electric vehicle the fastest or a place where you have a subscription. You will be able to see nearby amenities in case you want to shop or grab a coffee while you wait.
