Ex-convict is the new face of Kim Kardashian West's shapewear

Kim Kardashian West had to face negative reactions for the name that she had initially chosen for her line of clothing at the cut: Kimono. Traditional media have decried Kardashian West's name of shapewear as an appropriation of Japanese culture. After the shock, Kardashian West changed the name to SKIMS Solutionwear.

Now, SKIMS has a new face, Alice Marie Johnson, the woman to whom President Trump granted his thanks after meeting with Kardashian West, who spoke on behalf of Johnson.

Johnson was facing a life sentence plus 25 years, with no possibility of parole, for leading a group of cocaine addicts and laundered money.

Now, the first convict is boasting – not just of prison, but of being shy with her clothes.

Getting up in the morning without having a bunk bed above my head is precious. Being able to open the door when I want and just walk outside and breathe fresh air, breathe freedom. It is precious to me. This tight garment gives me the impression that I can enter the store, that I can take something that I would not normally have thought of wearing and that I can put it on. And I'm going to like it. This shapewear makes me feel free.

Critics call Kardashian West to earn money from Johnson's story and even blame what they see as the perverse nature of the video about capitalism.

However, at the beginning of the video, Johnson said he did not know who Kardashian West was. Johnson was incredibly grateful for Kardashian West's fight, even calling the celebrity "angel".

Critics of the Kardashian West shapewear line seem to be targeting it not for his fight for criminal justice, but for his use of the free market system.

In Hollywood elite circles, the left praises its desire for change – until this change is made by capitalism or until supporters of change adhere to other conservative principles or associate personalities with the political right.

Although Kardashian West does not support President Trump outwardly, his work with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, as well as the Trump government as a whole, has undermined his credibility with Hollywood elites.
