The uproar within the Houston Texans organization now includes one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Following reports last week of Deshaun Watson’s dissatisfaction with the Texans and the process that led to the hiring of new general manager Nick Caserio, Andre Johnson has publicly sided with the franchise’s quarterback and took a not-so-subtle photo of besieged executive Jack Easterby.

“If I am @deshaunwatson I will hold my position”, Johnson written on twitter. “The Texans organization is known to spoil the careers of players. Since Jack Easterby entered the building nothing good has happened in / for the organization and for some reason someone doesn’t seem see what’s going on. Pathetic !!! “

The Texans announced last month that Johnson, the team’s all-time top receiver, would serve as an advisor in the team’s search for a new general manager and head coach. Easterby was not advertised as part of the advisory group. Owner Cal McNair said in November that Easterby – then interim general manager – would not get the full-time job and that a decision on his future would be made after the new general manager was hired.

Caserio and Easterby have a history dating back to when the two worked together on the New England Patriots.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported last week that Watson was “extremely unhappy” with the organization over its lack of involvement. Caserio had hired after McNair had previously informed Watson that he would have a role in finding a general manager and head coach and that he would be able to provide an answer. Rapoport noted that Watson’s issue was unrelated to Caserio’s actual hiring.

Rapoport reported at the time that Watson had not recently spoken with the Texans, although the organization attempted to contact him.

McNair said last Friday that Watson and veteran defensive end JJ Watt are “valued members of our team” and he looks forward to speaking with Watson upon his return from vacation.

Caserio professed his admiration for Watson, saying “he’s our quarterback”.

Rapoport reported on Tuesday that the Texans had requested to interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for their vacant head coach position. Due to league rules, Bieniemy will not be able to interview the Texans until the Chiefs season ends.
