Less than a year after announcing a $ 3.9 billion makeover of the most famous US aircraft, President Donald Trump on Wednesday presented unpublished images of the new Air Force One design at the time of writing. an exclusive interview with ABC News.

"George, take a look at this," Trump told ABC News channel chief George Stephanopoulos, presenting him with images of his vision of the next generation of presidential apparatuses. "This is your new Air Force One."

Last July, Trump announced plans to reorganize the design of the aging fleet. But on Wednesday, in an exclusive interview with ABC News, Trump announced plans to trade the iconic work of sky blue and white paint against a patriotic red, white, and blue.

"We had different choices here," said Trump, pointing to the images he had designed himself. "They are all slightly different."

"Air Force One" refers to any aircraft carrying the President of the United States and most commonly refers to a pair of Boeing 747-200B series aircraft.

The current fleet includes several modifications, including a presidential suite, a medical operation room and a kitchen that can "feed 100 people at a time," according to the White House.

"Is the frame still a 747?" Stephanopoulos asked.

"It's a 747, but you know, it's a much bigger plane," Trump replied. "It's a much bigger stature."

Despite his willingness to share the preliminary sketches, the president keeps some details near the vest.

"There are some secrets," Trump teased. "You know what, there are some secrets I do not think we're supposed to talk about."

And despite the greatness that Trump has engraved in his brand, his new plane may not have everything.

"Everyone wants to know, is there a pod or not?" Stephanopoulos asked. "You saw the movie" Air Force One "? … The famous pod flying from the back?"

"Oh, I see," laughs Trump. "But yes – no."

Before taking office, Trump had criticized the "out of control" costs in the government's initial contract with Boeing to reorganize the fleet. The White House announced last year that its new contract generated a $ 1.3 billion decrease from the original proposal.

"In fact, we added things," Trump told Stephanopoulos. "And I received $ 1.6 billion less than the price."

But the president's new patriotic vision for the business jet could face friction on Capitol Hill.

On Wednesday, shortly after Trump showed ABC News the plans for the new Air Force One paint job, legislators of the House of Armed Forces committee voted in favor of a reduction in expenses related to renovation plans.

"The President will have the opportunity to make suggestions and modifications to the aircraft," said Wednesday representative Joe Courtney, a Connecticut Democrat, who introduced the amendment, noting that one " paint supplement can add weight to the plane, add to the cost and delays in the delivery of the plane ".
