He shared that he was also offered Bigg Boss OTT, but turned it down because he wanted to be a part of the TV version hosted by Salman Khan. The handsome actor also explained how he was always inclined to act, but chose to focus on his studies due to the condition of his family. Umar said he was not offered the show just because he was Asim Riaz’s brother and the directors noticed something in him.

Yes, I am currently experiencing a mixture of emotions, nervous, but excited because this is not a regular reality show. It’s very different where you will be locked up with strangers in a house. Many apprehensions are there at the moment.
What made him say yes to the show?
As a child, I was fascinated by entertainment and wanted to be a part of it. I always dreamed of being on TV but due to the circumstances of life and the situation of my family I could not follow my passion. I was also a very short guy so I was not sure about myself to be on TV. I decided to focus on my studies to excel. After completing my post-graduation studies, I knew I could survive on my own and didn’t need to take money from my parents in Mumbai. After 3 years of struggle I’m finally here on Bigg Boss 15.
Is Asim the inspiration behind Bigg Boss 15?
Asim has been an inspiration to me as a member of the entertainment community. But I never used his fame to get things in life. When he was inside the house I took care of all his accounts and as a brother I felt I needed to be his support. I was getting ready for my exams but I knew this was his only opportunity to shine and I didn’t want it to be ruined. And people saw me supporting him on Bigg Boss 13 and also saw me on the family tour, they liked me. There have been many nominee family members on the show in the past, but none of them had such an opportunity, so I would say even the creators saw something in me.
Umar is not bringing his brother’s fan base to the show
I am an opportunist and I knew I could be a doctor all my life, but this chance is once in a lifetime and I took it. I did music videos and other stuff even though I wasn’t in the industry. And I’m not saying my clips have had millions of views. They’ve done well and it’s not like my brother’s fans have helped me. They adore Asim when he does projects he gets eyes beyond expectations. I’m not taking his fan base to get on the show, if that had been the case my videos would have made millions. Now is my trip.
I am not an aspirant, I have done something in life
I am not an aspirant, I have done something with a living. I had a successful career and worked hard for 10 years. It’s not that I’m Asim Riaz’s brother so I get this show. I also have my positive points. I look good, I was in good shape. I’ve tried to act and do good and if you talk to my co-stars they only have good things to say. They always tell me that I don’t seem to be playing for the first time. I was initially offered Bigg Boss OTT but I refused to do so because I wanted to be part of the TV version. I thought I didn’t mind waiting 3-4 years but I will only go for the TV versions.
Advice from Asim and Himanshi
I talk to Asim daily and he continues to share his experiences to help me every time. He’s just a phone call away. Himanshi is part of the family and if she hadn’t supported me I would have fought (laughs). Just before going into quarantine, I met Asim, Himanshi and all my family. My mom and sisters were also there and we had a lot of talking about Bigg Boss.
