It's James who gives hope to the Lakers to reach another big name because it seems to be the era of the stars who are teaming up and he is the greatest. It remains to be seen whether the reception will land at one of these stars, but playing with James is undoubtedly a selling point, and rival leaders also think so.
Howard Beck, of Bleacher Report, spoke with 10 leaders and scouts of the NBA. They are convinced that James' presence outweighs all other factors when considering the Lakers as a winning option for free agents:
The Lakers were perceived with considerable skepticism, due to their poor alignment, the fragile status of coach Luke Walton and the general lack of confidence in the tandem of receiving Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka. Those who chose the Lakers as the best "win now" option pointed to one key factor: LeBron.
There is definitely some concern when we consider the Lakers as an option for a free agent this summer. The front office remains to be proven and the question of who will coach is a huge question, but with James on the list, anything is possible.
James has spoken openly about his desire to recruit Lakers players this summer and that could make all the difference. Regardless of everything that happens in the team, the potential to play with a legend such as James could be all that the Lakers need to land on the coveted second star long awaited by the team.
