Last week, at its annual developer conference, Google announced the introduction of a dark mode with Android 10 Q. The signs show it since the launch of the beta, but the company more and more attack to this new theme. Over the weekend, we learned that the Google app had a dark color scheme, although it still looks rather clunky, unfinished and inconsistent for all users who turned on the dark mode at the same time. system scale on Q Beta.

Let's start with the changes visible in Pixel Launcher. For some users, the bottom Google search bar now turns into a transparent black bar when dark mode is turned on, even if it stays blank for others. This same bar appears in the discovery stream on the leftmost home screen, where the rest of the interface stays bright (which is strange because the stream has already received a mode dark appropriate). Click on the search box to open the usual screen of recent queries and application suggestions, even if the background is dark, which makes the status bar and the App names almost illegible. We even had a case where the search suggestions were written with a black font. Well, they became white once our informant started typing.

Some half-cooked changes appeared during the search on Google, because users received a disturbing black-and-white interface similar to Assistant and Google Photos, some versions back. Although most chrome applications have a dark gray layer, the search bar and web view with the results remain blank, unless you drag to the rightmost "Personal" tab, which is gray with an odd white stripe at the top. The status bar becomes unreadable in most parts of the application, with the exception of the recent lower tab, which receives a white background, while the rest of its interface seems relatively finished. For me however, the search interface has not changed at all and remains completely white.

All reports have in common that users are on the latest version 9.88 of the beta version of the Google app, which you can find on APK Mirror. You can also choose to participate in the beta through the Play Store widget below. As you can see from the various broken styles, it seems to be a server-side test and you may not have a dark mode at all.
