The number of deaths after the fatal explosion at a Virginia service station has increased. The police found Saturday three bodies.

Virginia State Police confirmed that the remains of three people were found in debris left at the South River Market and Service Station in Buena Vista, Virginia after a fatal explosion and fire Friday morning.

According to the police, the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Office and fire and rescue services reacted to reports of an explosion at the gas station at approximately 9:30 am

Four unidentified adults were transported to the Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington City for treatment. Their immediate state was unknown.

The initial investigation had killed two, but during Saturday's investigation, the authorities found the remains of a third individual.

The remains have been handed over to the Roanoke Medical Examiner for an autopsy. Positive identification could take several days, the police said.

State police said that even though the investigation was ongoing, "the incident does not appear suspicious in nature".
