Controlled vehicles. Roads blocked. The National Mall has closed. The nation’s capital is increasingly locked on Saturday ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s next inauguration as the Pentagon cleared 25,000 troops deployed to Washington, DC

A man from Virginia was arrested at a checkpoint and charged with having an unregistered weapon.

The unprecedented surge in security came as the handover continued, with groundbreaking events starting practically on Saturday. And Mr Biden’s new chief of staff, Ron Klain, released a memo detailing Mr Biden’s priorities during the first 10 days of his administration, including several executive actions.

Other charges were announced on Saturday against the rioters on the Capitol. A Texas real estate agent said she should be pardoned because she was following President Trump’s advice. Prosecutors said Jenna Ryan took a private plane to Washington, DC, televised the assault live, and then tweeted “we just stormed the capital (sic). It was one of the best days of my life “.

“I just want people to know that I’m a normal person, that I listen to my president who told me to go to Capitol Hill. That I was showing my patriotism while I was there and just protesting. and I wasn’t trying to do anything violent and I didn’t know there was actually violence, ”Ryan told CBS Dallas / Fort Worth.
