EA and Codemasters removed 3D audio from the PS5 version of F1 2021, shortly after ray tracing was temporarily removed.
F1 2021 patch 1.06 is live and along with a number of other fixes and changes for the game, the 3D audio for headphone users has been removed for those playing on the PlayStation 5. Codemasters says ” 3D audio for headphones has been temporarily disabled on PS5. This will be re-enabled as soon as the related audio issues have been resolved. ”
Removing the feature won’t result in any drastic gameplay changes, but takes a bit away from the immersive experience of F1 2021 while it is being repaired.
This isn’t the first issue Codemasters is having with the PlayStation 5 version of the game. During the game’s 1.04 patch notes, it was noted that ray tracing was causing instability for a “limited number” of people. PS5 users and the company had to temporarily remove it from the game. The game features ray tracing in its photo mode and during in-game reruns. While not a necessity, ray tracing is definitely a must. welcome addition to the series and shows how the developers are trying to push the hardware capabilities of the latest generation of consoles. Ray tracing was reintroduced after patch 1.05.
While PS5 fans are hoping the game will restore its 3D audio as soon as possible, a number of other tweaks were also noted in the racing simulation patch notes. Many of these changes act as minor bug fixes and general stability improvements, such as a fix for the game’s split screen mode that was causing issues during wet runs in the game. Despite all of the recent PS5 difficulties, There is good news for fans as the patch improved the controller feedback that gamers experience when the controller haptic feedback is set to low on the PS5.
