In July, Instagram had extended its concealment tests to seven countries. Now Facebook has confirmed that he could start testing the same thing on his platform. The change could happen in news feeds and show users a few common friends who liked a publication on Facebook not counting the total number.
Reported by TechCrunch, a prototype of the upcoming test was discovered by Jane Manchun Wong in the Android and Facebook application have confirmed that the removal of similar accounts was being considered for testing.
When we asked Facebook, the company confirmed to TechCrunch that it was considering testing the removal of similar content counts. However, it is not yet available to users. Facebook declined to share Instagram's results, such as hidden tests, its exact motivations, or any schedule to begin testing.
The interest of Facebook to delete as many accounts is probably similar to what Instagram had previously said was an effort to have "your subscribers focus on the photos and videos you share, and not on the number of tastes that they get ". Through Instagram testing, users can still see the same number for their own messages but will not see them for each other's messages. It's unclear if what Facebook will probably test will work in exactly the same way.
TC note that hiding as accounts can decrease self-awareness and increase user activity. And the preparation of this test by Facebook could be a sign that the removal of similar accounts for some Instagram users in Canada, Italy, Australia and others has been positive.
Facebook wants to avoid scenarios such as "Look how much love they get. My life is lame in comparison "or" why even share if it's not going to get as many mentions as I like that post and people will think I'm unpopular ".
