Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ: FB), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) – Facebook Users Phone Numbers Go Out for $ 20 Each on Telegram: What You Need to Know

Private phone numbers from Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB) Users are available via a bot on rival messaging service Telegram for $ 20 a pop, Vice’s Motherboard reported Monday.

What happened: The database contains information on 500 million Facebook users, a person advertising the service told Motherboard.

The data is said to be linked to a vulnerability that the company led by Mark Zuckerberg corrected in August 2019.

Vice tested the bot and found that the first Telegram bot results were redacted but could be revealed by purchasing credits. Each credit is $ 20 and prices range up to $ 5,000 for 10,000 credits.

Why is this important: The bot apparently contains information about Facebook users from the US, Canada, UK, Australia and 15 other countries. Facebook had more than 2 billion users in 2019 worldwide.

The bot can be used even by novice cybercriminals because it is easy to access or by hackers, who can misuse information, according to Vice.

This month Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone users were suddenly logged out of their Facebook accounts due to an outage caused by a “configuration change,” according to USA Today.

Price action: Facebook shares closed nearly 1.3% higher at $ 278.01 on Monday and fell 0.53% in the after-hours session.
