Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg and other company executives spoke at the F8 developer conference today to explain the platform's direction. We also watched the new major Facebook design for iOS and desktop computers, which features a brand new user interface and logo, as well as an overview of new features and changes made to Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Messenger
Zuckerburg kicked off the F8's keynote address and recalled the company's new goals for security, privacy, encryption and interoperability that it had shared on last month. He reiterated that the company believed that "the future is private".
He told the F8 public that Messenger was going to take the lead in Facebook products to make changes in the direction of these new principles and was also aiming to be the fastest messenger service.
Zuckerburg confirmed the previously disclosed news that Messenger would be going on Mac and Windows, and we had a glimpse of the application in dark mode on macOS. We did not get a definitive release date for Desktop Messenger outside of the arrival app this fall.
The presentation also pointed out that more than 2 billion people would exchange private messages with end-to-end encryption when the update comes from Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
In terms of interoperability, Zuckerburg has introduced a new "Friends" tab that will be sent to Messenger, allowing users to see the content of people followed on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The interface presents a tiled card design and does not include content from companies or public figures.
Another private-messaging update that will be provided to Messenger will be a "Watch Together" feature that resembles other third-party apps we've seen previously and encourages remote connection with friends to watch videos.

Another highlight of the keynote speech was the unveiling of the next major Facebook iteration, FB5. The design will be much lighter, losing the essential blue theme on mobile devices and desktops. It should also be easier to navigate and include a redesigned upper miter bar.
FB5 will also come with an updated Facebook logo, which is a square with rounded corners for quite some time. The new logo will be circular and seems dynamic depending on the context.
Facebook also showed that the web-based platform would become a darker mode in a short shared video on Twitter.
As for the dark mode on iOS, Facebook says that feature will come first to the Look tab, but was not shared at the time of deployment or arrival on the entire mobile app.

Along with Facebook's efforts to chart a new path in security, privacy and a more positive platform overall, special focus will be on groups, the featured tab. part of the new top bar.
Zuckerberg said the new version of the FB5 is being rolled out on the mobile (probably for developers).
Zuckerburg also reviewed new changes on Instagram. In the future, users will be able to create a new message without having to start with a photo or video. The feature is called "Design Mode" and will allow users to start with just text, a poll, a question, and so on.
On the commercial side, Instagram is expanding the operation of the purchases on the platform. Creators will now be able to sell to their subscribers by creating a direct link to published products.
Another new option is to include donation stickers in the publications to raise funds for a cause you care about.

Other updates on the company's products include pre-orders for the Oculus Quest VR wireless headset in use for $ 399. This last option of VR does not require a PC or Mac, all the necessary elements being integrated.
Zuckerburg also spoke of the surprise success of his personal portal portal video hub and said the product would expand internationally.
