If you woke up this morning and were inexplicably logged out of the Facebook app on your iPhone, you are not alone. Facebook claims that a “configuration change” affected people’s ability to access the Facebook app on their iPhones on Friday night, but the issue seems to have since been resolved for most users.
Facebook disconnected iPhone users
Interestingly, the problem seems to have affected only iPhone users. On Friday night, Facebook for iOS users took to Twitter to wonder why they had been logged out of the app for no reason. Some users with two-factor authentication enabled also had difficulty regaining access to their account, and some even had to upload photos of a valid ID to log in. Affected users say the two-factor authentication SMS codes were very slow to send, or didn’t send at all.
The problem was so widespread that it turned into trending topic on Twitter while users speculated why Facebook logged off all iPhone users at exactly the same time.
A Facebook spokesperson issued the following statement to Engadget:
“We know that some people are currently having difficulty accessing Facebook. We believe this was due to a configuration change and we are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. “
Facebook did not provide any further details on what exactly happened. In a social media post, the company said the “configuration change” was resolved around 6 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. The social network has never disconnected. The only problem was that iPhone users were logged out of their account and some could not easily regain access.
Have you been affected by this weird Facebook problem? Were you able to easily regain access to your Facebook account? Let us know in the comments!
