Facebook should not be broken – Axios

Adam Mosseri, director of Instagram, rejected the idea that Facebook should be split, saying that it would hurt the ability of social networks to fight against electoral fraud and other major problems.

Why is it important: Some critics and regulators, including the 2020 candidate, Senator Elizabeth Warren, have called for the breakup of large technology companies.

Speaking at the code conference, Mr Mosseri noted that more people working on Facebook's integrity and security were working on Facebook than anyone working on Instagram. "If you separated us, you would cut that," he said.

Facebook's AR / VR hardware manager, Andrew Bosworth, insisted that Facebook could solve the problems. "I believe these are problems that can be solved even if there are difficult problems," he said.

Asked that Facebook would defend its size by saying that it was necessary to fight a problem of its own creation, Bosworth said: "This is not a circular logic, it's a economy of scale ".
