Falcon and Winter Soldier lead writer teases Episode 5 character who could team up with Thor

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is finally here and the final episode featured the highly anticipated reunion between Sam Wilson / Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Marvel fans are obsessed with the duo’s chemistry, which has made them one of the most beloved couples in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show’s chief writer Malcolm Spellman recently spoke with Rotten Tomatoes TV, and the host touched on the iconic couple as well as more unexpected duets like Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Spellman was asked about some of his dream couples with Marvel, and he teased that an upcoming character from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would work well with Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

“There are characters in our series that I would like to see a partnership with like – he’s a very, very grounded character – partnering with one of the big globalists like Thor or someone like that,” said Spellman. “The personality is so strong, he’s a character from episode five. I’d love to see that character with Thor.”

We love a good tease! This response from Spellman makes us wonder if this character from Episode 5 is the same person he hinted to be his favorite on the show. In fact, he recently shared with SFX Magazine (Going through the Direct) that his favorite character was almost lost.

“My favorite character on the show, we almost lost. And we lost [them] for a short time. So I don’t know what Kevin [Feige], Nate [Moore]and Zoie [Nagelhout] worked in the background, but that character came back, ”Spellman explained.

We certainly weren’t surprised to learn that the Marvel producers have come and saved the day. While we might not know Spellman’s favorite character and if it’s the same person he teases for a Thor team, we do know the moment he realized Sam and Bucky were the future of the MCU. .

“There were about 12 seconds Civil war where it feels like every Marvel fan knew these two guys were going to be able to support a movie or franchise. Doing the interviews you can’t really take credit for the tone because in those 12 seconds everyone knew what it was going to be … the two-handed mate kind, which we liked, that ‘is the range, you can go from as gritty as 48 hours as funny as Peak hour... it allows Sebastian and Anthony to do what they do and create that magic. “
