Surprise! Fallout 76of big new update of Steel Dawn, bringing the Brotherhood of Steel back to the Appalachians, fell a week earlier. This was in part thanks to a fix that accidentally went over schedule for Xbox and Windows 10 gamers, which ended up excluding them from the game.

Earlier today, some players on Twitter and Reddit started reporting a mysterious 13.92gb update that when downloaded told them their game client was out of date and prevented them from restarting Fallout 76. It turns out they were getting the Steel Dawn update early, but since it wasn’t ready to go live until December 1, they couldn’t play.

“We immediately started looking for ways to get our Xbox players back into play as soon as possible,” Bethesda announced this afternoon. on the game website. “However, during our discussions, all of us at Bethesda Game Studios felt that the best way to resolve this issue was to release the update for everyone.”

As a result, the game’s servers were taken offline for everyone for maintenance starting at 4:00 p.m. ET, with approximately six hours of downtime expected. When the game returns later tonight (assuming nothing breaks), players can dive into Steel vaneThe new questline and new shelter system before the Thanksgiving holiday.

“We would like to apologize to our Xbox players for any confusion caused by today’s issue, but we hope everyone Fallout 76 The community is as excited as we are to dive into Steel Dawn earlier than planned, ”Bethesda wrote.

It’s a Fallout 76 bug that certainly worked in favor of gamers.

Update – 5:05 p.m. ET 11/24/20: the patch notes for the Steel Dawn update just dropped as well and they include a drastic change to the game’s hunger and thirst survival mechanics:

Updates on hunger and thirst

  • We agree with community comments that our hunger and thirst mechanisms might seem a bit too punitive. We’ve decided to remove the negative effects when you’re hungry or thirsty, and improve the bonuses you receive when you’re fed and hydrated.
  • In the future, your action points, health and resistance to disease will no longer be negatively affected if you haven’t eaten or drunk recently.
  • Instead, you will receive buffs that increase based on the amount of your hunger and thirst:
  • Hunger: Gain +15 Max Health when Partially Fed, up to +35 Max Health, + 35% Disease Resistance, and +1 Strength when Fully Fed.
  • The thirst: Gain + 15% AP regeneration when partially hydrated, up to + 35% AP regeneration, + 35% disease resistance, and +1 endurance when fully hydrated.

Finally, no need to quickly return to camp in the middle of the adventure because you have dysentery.

In case you have lived inside a safe:
