The family of a 15-year-old Texas high school shooting victim were “shocked” by video of a brawl which police say led to the incident.
Timothy Simpkins, 18, reportedly shot 15-year-old Zacchaeus Selby four times with a .45 caliber handgun in a brawl that erupted at Timberview High School in Arlington on Wednesday.
Simpkins surrendered after an hour-long manhunt, and Arlington Police released him Thursday after posting $ 75,000 bail.
The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins.

Simpkins’ family claimed he acted in self-defense, claiming Selby had bullied him, but Selby’s family insisted he was the victim.
Footage of the brawl – currently in the possession of police as evidence – “shocked” the Selby family.
“We saw the video ourselves,” Kathy Selby, the victim’s grandmother, told FOX 4 News. “We were shocked to see the video because we’ve never seen him that way before. I’ve never seen him fight even with his sister or older brother. He’s a sweet-mannered kid and in a soft voice. ”

Kathy Selby said her grandson’s condition has improved since being admitted to hospital and the family is optimistic about his recovery, for as long as he is.
Following the football game between Timberview High Schools and University on Friday, the teams knelt and prayed for his recovery.

“Everyone is so sweet, kind and caring,” Zacchaeus Selby’s mother said. “We received so much love and support. They said the parlor was full of people trying to come and see him.”
“One of the other victims – the teacher – their family came to pray with us,” she added. “The police came to talk to us and hugged us, and the staff are nice. The staff prayed with us. I mean, the love and support is… it’s so much.”

Simpkins faces three counts of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, the WFAA reported. Shots reportedly fired by Simpkins hit Selby in the arm, leg, chest and stomach – and hit a teacher who attempted to end the fight. A bullet grazed another student.
