BEVERLY HILLS, Calif .– A famous plastic surgeon, Dr Payman Simoni, died last week after apparently contracting the coronavirus from a patient he was giving lip injections. He was 50 years old.

The Beverly Hills community mourned the loss of Simoni, who owned a practice located on North Rodeo Drive. Simoni was considered one of the region’s leading nose surgeons, according to his website.

After contracting the virus, Simoni quickly fell ill and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. While in hospital, his symptoms became severe and he was placed in a medically induced coma before dying of a brain hemorrhage on January 15, TMZ reported.

The patient’s temperature was taken before the appointment, but a few days after leaving, she called Simoni’s office to inform staff of her positive coronavirus diagnosis. Simoni allegedly wore a mask during the procedure, according to multiple reports.

Simoni appeared on “The Doctors” show and was listed on her website as “One of Hollywood’s Top 5 Plastic Surgeons”.

In the spring of 2020, the Centers for Disease Control recommended that healthcare facilities prioritize emergency visits and stop elective procedures to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

In May, they released guidelines for facilities seeking to resume elective care services.

California health officials are urging residents to stay at home more than ever, especially in Los Angeles, where cases recently passed the one million mark.

The county reported a total of 1,014,662 cases, of which 11,366 new cases were reported on Sunday.
