Fan of & # 39; Die Hard & # 39; – The first step from Willis to Philly

PHILADELPHIA – Bruce Willis was working in the dark for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Willis, star of "The Sixth Sense" and "The Fifth Element", threw the first pitch in his No. 19 Phillies jersey before Philadelphia met the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night. Willis was not at hand – he jumped off the pitch at the Phillies' Ace, Aaron Nola.

Willis also took his cuts in the bat trials against coach Dusty Wathan using a bat borrowed from Phillies player Nick Williams. Willis grew up in the town of Carney's Point, in southern New Jersey, and filmed movies in Philadelphia, including "Glass."

"I just love to hit the ball," Willis said in his thin red stripes. "I just love the sound, I grew up with the Phillies."

Willis, 64, spoke with Phillies rapper Rhys Hoskins and manager Gabe Kapler. Kapler, in his second year, played at Scrooge and refused to believe that Willis' "Die Hard" classic of 1988 was a Christmas film.

"I stand, not a Christmas movie," Kapler said during a heated debate with writers in his office. "Are most Christmas movies not centered on the Christmas celebration in one way or another?"
