A fan, hit by an immaculate ball against White Sox player Eloy Jimenez at the Guaranteed Rate Field on Monday night, was taken to the hospital for observation and communication, a Sox spokeswoman said.
Jimenez hit hard in the stands in the fourth inning just past the third goal Sox dugout. The woman was sitting in several rows of the field.
She was bleeding around her head and was covered with a towel. She headed to the lobby with the help of stadium staff.
Jiménez put his hands on his helmet after seeing the ball enter the stands. The guaranteed rate field safety net extends to the end of the dugouts.
