2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the Nobody RPG series and developer Atlus recently announced that they have much in store to celebrate this milestone.

Starting today, Nobody Fans can pre-order a bunch of new merchandise based on the series, including clothing, posters, key chains, and plush toys, all featuring the main protagonists from each of the main games. The new product even includes parts for the underrated and rarely promoted first installments, which, despite receiving PlayStation Portable re-releases, are still difficult to obtain and play due to the age of the handheld.

More exciting, however, is the news that Atlus plans to unveil seven big Nobody announcements, from September 2021 until fall 2022.

Nobody, despite starting his life in 1996 as a spin-off of the Shin megami tensei franchise, has since become the best-known property, growing in popularity with each new release and even spawning its own spinoffs. Unfortunately, this attention rarely falls on the first two adventures of the series, Revelations: Persona and the Person 2 duology Innocent sin and Eternal punishment, so it’s interesting to see Atlus correctly recognizing his place in the series with this promotional material.

Apart from Mobile game developed by Perfect World Code name: X, there has been very little indication of what fans can expect from the future of the Nobody series. It may seem too early for one Person 6 announcement, but Atlus has been open about a follow-up to the hugely popular Person 5 since at least 2017, when director Naoto Hiraoka admitted that expectations for the next installment were high during a recruiting call.

“When we created Person 4, there was a pressure he had to overcome Person 3, explained Hiraoka at the time. “Now we will have to create a [Persona 6] which exceeds [Persona 5]. However, exceeding [Persona 5] will be difficult with the current staff. I would like to overcome this great obstacle with all those who join us in this recruitment. The workplace is perfect for those looking for a creative challenge when it comes to bringing games to the world.

It should also be noted that we are currently so far from Person 5 and his Royal improve as we were from Person 4 and Persona 4 Gold when Person 5 has been teased for the first time. Just something to keep in mind.

In any case, this shortage of Nobody the information has naturally only fueled speculation, and the anniversary product line itself doesn’t help matters. Several items are kept secret in a way that indicates they may have to do with an upcoming Person 6 ad. One particular image from a collectible card series (see above) is released as a hint that a reveal is imminent due to the placeholder being exactly where one would expect potential. Person 6 protagonist to join their predecessors.

Person 6 and remastered versions of the first two games are a no-brainer, but how about another Persona 4 Arena-style fighting game? And while the Etrian Odyssey mashups aren’t really my cup of tea, some people would probably take a third Person Q dungeon-robot. Damn, I would even love to see my old school crush Yukino Mayuzumi and Eikichi Mishima get their groove in another Dancing Payment. Nobody is taller now than it has ever been; Atlus can really do whatever he wants and be successful at this point.
