Fans of Bills flood Lamar Jackson’s charity with donations

The Bill Mafia behaves exactly the opposite way to the real Mafia.

The fans of the Buffalo soccer team show their appreciation and respect in a very powerful way: with their wallets.

Since last night’s game against the Ravens, a Bills victory that led the team to the AFC Championship for the first time since 1993, fans have donated around $ 150,000 to Blessings in a Backpack, a charity backed by Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson.

“Can we talk about the Bills mafia?” Nikki Grizzle, Group Marketing Director, said USA today. “This is amazing. You took a normal Sunday in January and made it one of the happiest days in Blessings history.”

The group provides food on weekends for elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry. Jackson has worked with the group for three years.

“This amount of money is going to have a huge impact on our organization, especially at a time of this pandemic when there are more children than ever before who need our program,” Grizzle said.

Jackson left last night’s game with a concussion, having hit his head on the pitch at Bills Stadium.
