Station 19 and The anatomy of Gray Fans were shocked by the latest crossover event, which ended with the tragic death of a major character.

The two-hour special was about Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) and the other Gray Sloan Memorial doctors who were working to save the life of fire chief Lucas Ripley after collapsing in front of a flower shop. Subsequent tests later during the episode revealed that Ripley's problems were much more serious, ultimately leading to his death.

After spending most episodes trying to contact his girlfriend Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss), Ripley leaves Gray Sloan against the advice of a doctor to try and find her. This occurs just as Maggie discovers that the fire chief's situation is not related to an existing condition, but that he is being poisoned by hydrofluoric acid during a fire in a coffee shop.

After discovering the truth about his condition, Ripley stops at Seattle Presbyterian Hospital and Maggie tries to heal him. Unfortunately, his body is too damaged and, by the time Vic arrives to see him, he is already on the verge of death.

The transition ended on a tragic note, as Ripley accepted Vic's marriage proposal only for him to die a few seconds later.

The fans of both shows were shocked by the tragic end of the meeting, sharing their sadness on social media.

"Crying currently in tears," said a user, citing another fan claiming to have been a victim of the creator of The anatomy of GrayShonda Rhimes

"Barrett Doss was amazing tonight[[[[Station 19]her range of emotions: crazy, scared, unable to move, and even her trembling hand just before she opens the door to see the love of her life one last time .. we all went there with a loved one. She made the real thing, "commented another fan, praising the performance of the actress during the difficult hours.

"I did not look[[[[Station 19]since last season, but here I look[[[[Gray x Station 19]and cry hysterically! Thank you [Shonda Rhimes], "Anther spectator wrote.

The special episode added even more emotion by showing backtracking of Vic's relationship with Ripley, including the first time that they were confused for a married couple and when Vic met Ripley's sister.

Just before Ripley's collapse, the couple had discussed how they could hide at the station. Vic had suggested they get married so that their association is no longer inappropriate from a professional point of view.

Ripley collapsed just as he was heading to his favorite breakfast, that of Vic, to say yes to his proposal.

"Not cool, not cool at all, it broke my heart, one of my favorite characters," wrote another user.

"Great job, when I show up tomorrow, puffy and puffy eyes, do not blame me, Blame Shonda," said another fan on Twitter.

The anatomy of Gray Thursdays at 8 pm ET, followed by Station 19 at 9 pm. AND on ABC.
