Fans return, upcoming opportunity makes Aaron Rodgers ‘a little emotional’

“Definitely a little emotional, just thinking about what we’ve been through,” Rodgers said, referring to the pandemic season. “It made me touching with the crowd there today. I’m really happy with everything that happened today.”

He has every right to be. The Packers punched and passed the ball with impressive efficiency against the best defense in the league.

They ran for 188 yards, threw for 296, weren’t sacked or returned, and were situationally executed as they’ve been all season, converting two-thirds of their third downs (8 to 12 ) and three-quarters of their red zone odds until the last knees near the Los Angeles 10-yard line after the two-minute warning officially made them 3 for 5.

That’s when Rodgers was serenaded with the MVP vocals, and he quietly imbued them as another part of this weird and exceptional season to be cherished.

“It’s hard to say how special this feeling is,” Rodgers said. “But you can feel it. It’s so palpable. You can feel that energy in the stadium. It’s just different. It’s different playing in front of a crowd. It’s true.”

There will be another next Sunday to watch Rodgers play for a Super Bowl spot at Lambeau Field. He patiently awaits this chance.

“It will be exciting to enjoy tonight, celebrate and watch tomorrow’s game,” he said, “and to know whoever wins comes to us.”
