NASHVILLE – The NFL draft in Nashville attracted 600,000 fans this weekend.
I asked for feedback on your experiences and many of you delivered.
In the mailbox of today's Titans, fans share their memories of the 2019 NFL project …
Jake Lyman from Blacksburg, Virginia
My family and I traveled from Virginia Tech to Nashville for the repechage and it was an amazing experience. I was able to meet Marcus, Taylor, Adoree and KB, and we were able to stand the next night in the fan zone. I would like to come back. Is there a chance that Nashville will receive the project soon?
Bobby Fricks from Knoxville, Tennessee
I went to the repechage from Knoxville, Tennessee, because I could not stay at home and watch the story, I needed to be part of it. The atmosphere of pulling water alone was completely breathtaking. For me, it was like Disney World for NFL fans. All production on Thursday (my only night) exceeded all I could imagine. I am proud to be a season ticket holder and proud of the way Nashville has taken the lead in the best way possible.
Matt Krantz from Lexington, Kentucky
The highlight was the face of my 9 year old son Saturday when I showed him a text saying we had been "sketched". The next hour or so, we stayed there, amazed, closer to the scene. Nashville did a great job and made my son feel special. I really hope we can do it again in the not-so-distant future! Titan Up !!
Kyle Authenreith of Mt. Juliette, Tennessee
What an amazing weekend in Nashville. I had so many friends from the city who wrote me about the atmosphere in Nashville. I grew up in Indianapolis, which prides itself on being an excellent organizer of events like this, and Nashville made them ashamed. Nashville MUST be rotated to host this event. That said, how long will it take before people pony to a new stadium to hold a Super Bowl?
Beau Baker of Westminster, Colorado
I traveled from Denver Colorado to Nashville for the project every 3 days. In fact, I went to Philadelphia for that when they hosted it. Far away, I knew very early that the comparison was not close to energy. The feeling, the mass of the population was unmatched and I knew it would kill the record of previous drafts.
Get autographs of Marcus Mariota, Kevin Byard, Logan Ryan, etc. was an amazing experience for a fan in Denver. I told all the players that I had the opportunity to meet that I would make sure to be in the front row when the Titans go to Denver.
The autographs aside, the draft missed the word of Amy Adams Strunk: "Nashville knows how to organize a party". I did not see a person not having fun, I know it impressed everyone who traveled.
Preston Williamson from Nashville, Tennessee
I am a fellow Nashvillian and a big fan of the Titans, so it was for me a chance to attend the repechage this weekend. I had a blast and I'm glad the NFL decided to host the draft in Nashville, because it has enlightened us here in Nashville and how fantastic our city is. Nashville has not only been in the spotlight, but fans of the Titans have also caught the eye. Overall, I had a good time and loved the atmosphere of Bbroadway. Titan Up⚔️?
Jacob Michael of Beaver Dam, Kentucky
I traveled 4 hours to attend the first round. I arrived there 3 hours before I started to find a good place to look and the closest I could get was a block away just behind the ESPN scene.
Shiva Chatkara from Sacramento, California
Coming from California. I was very impressed by this rough draft. The repechage was a great event for all ages. Everyone applauded for their teams without drama and had a long difficult journey with (600,000 people). The bar scene on Broadway was fun with live music everywhere you went. They also had live broadcasts of sports networks, the NFL Experience, with player appearances and a lot of things to do and exhibits to see. Overall, just a good time.
Kristin Kelley from Dallas, Texas
Travel from Dallas to Nashville for the project. Was impressed overall; I thought it would be a tough day on Thursday, but the business structure, security checks and rooftop options offered to the public made it a great experience. Nashville should be proud, it was a great event. Attended the marathon the next day too – really fun to see so many riders wearing their jerseys / gear. See you very funny. Looking forward to the upcoming season, Titan Up!
Julie Austin from Smyrna, Tennessee
I knew it would be great because of my experience at Stanley Cup viewers' nights. It was so exaggerated and more than I could have ever dreamed of. I came with my 16 year old son every third day. It was not my original plan. Every day was different in content and mood. The total excitement and atmosphere of Thursday night are hard to describe. The accumulation during the day was an incomparable sensation.
Friday, we were able to get closer to the stage and spend time on the pedestrian bridge. The video panels on the bridge and the color change of the bridges, stadium and Schermerhorn were quite a sight.
My son has said many times that it was the best three days of his life. Every aspect has exceeded expectations by leaps and bounds. We spent a lot of time at the NFL Experience and it was amazing. Crystal helmets, experiments, interactive games, local food vendors … the NFL has thought of everything
As a woman and a mother, I want the powers to know that security was first rate. The lines moved quickly and I never felt in danger. Traffic was still moving and parking was accessible. It was not free, but I did not expect it to be. I am so proud of my city.
Shawn Smith from Phoenix, Arizona
It was awesome. The people were great, well organized and easy to get around. The honky tonks were excellent, but having free concerts was an amazing bonus. Overall, great weekend.
Slade Dale from Cookeville, Tennessee
Being an STH Titans in COOKEVILLE, Tennessee, I was really excited to hear that the project was coming to Nashville. I did not know what to expect, but there is no doubt that this event swept all expectations. A few years ago, I attended the NHL All-Star competition and that's what far surpassed it. All the fans were courteous and everything was so well thought out. Hopefully the project will be back in Nashville in the near future!
Brittany Hansen from Gallatin, Tennessee
Hi Jim! I live in Gallatin but work in downtown Nashville. Like probably most people, I was sort of dreading the NFL draft in downtown, but I was rather enthusiastic about it too, because I'm a project nerd. Have always been. My brother arrived Thursday in Huntsville, Alabama. He and I, with a few friends, attended the first round on Thursday night and we could not have had a better time. It was super cool to be part of what was going on. I think that if I'd been sitting at home and watching TV, I'd seriously want to miss it. We ended up at the NFL official party at Barlines (we were on the guest list) and when we left, we met Eddie George, who was super cool and could not have been nicer to us. . On Friday, my brother and I took our kids to experience the NFL Experience at Nissan and it was just as incredible. Our boys had a great time and the adults too. We then took them to see the first part of the second round on Broadway and they loved it. All in all, it was an absolutely incredible experience and I am so happy that we were able to live it. We have made so many good memories and I am very grateful. Congratulations to Nashville!
Stephaine Kirtley from Nashville, Tennessee
I was there Jim. The words can not explain how incredible this year's draft was. The crowd of people, my God. So happy to have been able to attend. Memories for a lifetime. Recognizing! We can not wait for our Tennessee Titans to take the field this season. #TitanUp
Johnathan Kirby of Salem, Virginia
Hey Jim, a subscriber who competed in Jimmy Buffett's draft and concert, and the best part of the draft was without a doubt that there was something for everyone. In the bars, NFL Experience, fans everywhere, the old players of several floating teams available to fans, it was amazing. The first day we created the fan zone and weathered the rain. On the second day, I was one of the subscribers of the season with General Jackson and the third day was held in front of a honky tonk before the concert and the fans were not about to go home. None of this would have been better except that our team was very integrated in meetings, greetings, television appearances and other events. Excellent work from the City and everyone involved. Thanks to JRob, Coach V, Amy and the scouts who made the most of our selections with 6 great players, thanks for the cover and Titan Up!
Thomas Harris from Jacksonville, Florida
I am from Nashville, Tennessee, but I am currently living in Jacksonville, Florida. I went home (Nashville is still in my heart) for the NFL draft. I am amazed at what has happened and proud to see my hometown show the world what Nashville has about. But my question is addressed to you Jim, after what happened this weekend, what can the Titans do to make significant improvements to the Nissan Stadium and for the Titans and Nashville have more chances to be more effective at major events. Yes, the obvious answer is Winning, no question about it. How about a classic football opening day with the right teams and Titans sponsoring it? Something to generate more revenue for upgrades?
Erin Curry from Pulaski, Tennessee
I arrived by car from Pulaski, Tennessee, at General Jackson's party on Wednesday, and stayed until Friday morning. Back on Saturday for Jimmy Buffet. I enjoyed it! The highlight for me was how everything seemed to go perfectly. I've never had to queue for beer or the bathroom (the main benefit of being a football fan). I loved the fact that wearing a Titans jersey makes you an automatic tour guide. I gave several recommendations or instructions. My favorite honky tonk was The Valentine. Very proud of the organization of Nashville and Titans. #TitanUp
Joe Hatcher from Nashville, Tennessee
I am a Nashvillian native and a 43 year old sports fan and it was by far the most amazing thing I've ever seen in the middle of the TN! Not to mention that I have never seen so many sports fans of any kind in one place! well set up, seamless and clean.
Have a good week!
