Fantastical is adding a variety of new features to the Mac alongside the release of macOS Big Sur this week. Fantastical for Mac features an updated design to accommodate Big Sur’s new aesthetic, along with widget support, Apple Silicon optimization, and more.
One of the major changes in macOS 11 Big Sur is Widget support in the Action Center, and Fantastical is one of the first apps to support new widgets. The new widgets are very similar to those on the iPhone and iPad with iOS 14. To customize your macOS Big Sur widgets, click in the action center, then find the “Edit Widgets” button at the bottom.
Today’s Fantastical update also includes support for Apple Silicon, so the app will work natively on early M1 Macs when they start hitting customers next week. Fantastical’s general design language has also been revised to match the lighter, more translucent design of macOS Big Sur.

- Added support for detecting Skype, Doxy, SimplePractice, and BlueJeans event URLs
- Fixed an issue where responding to a single instance of a recurring event would not work in certain situations
- Fixed an issue where creating an invite with a Google Meet conference would send two emails to invitees
- Fixed an issue where the uptime check could show one hour’s events
- Fixed an issue where using the monthly view to drag a task overdue due to tomorrow would not work in certain situations
- Fixed crash on macOS High Sierra
- Various fixes and improvements
Fantastical is available on the Mac App Store as a free download for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac. An in-app subscription is required to unlock all features. The video below shows the new features of Fantastical in version 3.3 on Mac.
