Saquon Barkley Injury Update

Bad luck hit Barkley again, and he injured his ankle after becoming entangled with a Cowboys defenseman. Fortunately, Barkley avoided serious injury as his x-rays came back negative, but he should miss a few weeks of games.

In his absence, Devontae Booker is expected to be the principal back in New York. He is not the world athlete that Saquon is, but he has proven to be a useful replacement during his career. In a clash against the Rams in Week 6, we rank him as our RB19 in PPR leagues and in Standard. The Giants’ offensive line is still weak, but Booker is expected to be in line for a bell-cow workload against a Rams team that has been relatively weak against the run this season.

WEEK 6 PPR RANKS:

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update

Edwards-Helaire injured his knee against Buffalo, but we’re not sure how serious it is at this point. However, it obviously didn’t look right, and CEH was visibly upset right after the play. That said, we’re assuming he’ll at least be out for a few games, making Darrel Williams a top priority waiver add.

For week 6, we rank Williams as our RB24 in standard leagues and RB25 in PPR. On such an explosive attack he has the potential to beat expectations, but we’ve seen the RB’s position overlooked enough at KC to know he’ll have a low bottom. Plus, he could often share the backfield with Jerick McKinnon. The Chiefs play a failing game in Washington in Week 6, but their passing defense is their biggest weakness.

Damien Harris injury update

Harris left his Week 6 game in Houston with a rib injury. He’s another guy we’ll have to wait and see, but his injury doesn’t look as bad as Barkley’s or CEH’s. That said, continue to monitor his situation, and if he runs out of time, Rhamondre Stevenson should be in line to take the bulk of the offensive runs. Stevenson was a good receiver in college, but that role seems to be grabbed by Brandon Bolden. So like Harris, Stevenson would be more of a standard league game. Even though Harris is in good health, he lost another key fumble at the goal line last week, which could also take a toll on his playing time.

Since we don’t expect Harris to run out of time, we classify him as our RB26 as standard and RB29 in PPR. Frankly, he might need a touchdown to produce a fantastic day, but he has a chance to do so against the Cowboys defense which was better than expected but still not great.
