Fantasy waiver thread goals for week 5 of the 2021 NFL season

Jamison crowder made his season debut with the Jets last week and finished with a team-high nine targets for seven catches, 61 yards and one touchdown. He scored almost 20 fantastic points on his debut in the season. It was a good game against the Titans, but Crowder should remain a big target in the Jets offense. Zach Wilson threw in the slot on 28 percent of his shots, and Braxton Berrios, who occupied the slot in Crowder’s absence, led the Jets in targets in two of the first three weeks. Being a slots catcher in the Jets offense doesn’t give him the highest cap, but he has a very safe bottom and should see consistent volume every week.

Darnell mooney has been drafted into many leagues, but fantasy players aren’t always the most patient. The Bears gap may still be in your league, but it’s currently available in over sixty percent of NFL leagues. Mooney saw seven targets in Week 4 when no one else had more than three. He caught five for a record 125 yards. He also completed a 10-meter run, which allowed him to score a fantastic 18.5 points in total. Mooney is explosive and a legitimate downline threat. It wasn’t the problem; the Bears offense was. It was a very encouraging game for Mooney and, if someone let him down in your league, you should take him off waiver.

Emmanuel Sanders saw six targets in Week 4, catching five for 74 yards. It was in a game where Bills QB Josh Allen only pitched 29 times because the Bills were so big. It’s a week after making five catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns on six targets. After being limited to single digits for the first two weeks, he scored 26.4 and 13.1 fantasy points respectively. The Bills schedule really opens up with the Chiefs in Week 5 in what could be a high-scoring clash, followed by the Titans, Dolphins, Jaguars and Jets. Sanders is an integral part of the passing game and with this schedule he has a lot of advantages. Catch it now while you still can.

Tim patrick has been targeted six times, catching three of them for 39 yards. This was after seeing five targets in Week 3, which was most tied with the Broncos. He caught all five for a record 98 yards. Patrick is now the Broncos’ second wide wide receiver with Jerry Jeudy sidelined and KJ Hamler finished for the season. His value is higher with Bridgewater as he only had one catch for nine yards on three Lock targets in Week 4, but he saw consistent volume. That alone makes it worth taking a photo.

Kadarius toney has been targeted nine times, a team-high, catching six of them for 78 yards. Toney was a benefactor of Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton’s missing time due to a hamstring injury, but if both are missing you can expect the volume to go in Toney’s direction. The recruit is raw, but explosive. That volume can lead to a big game and the Giants have invested a first-round pick on him, so if he puts in numbers he could carve out a bigger role for himself, even when all receivers are healthy. Don’t go too aggressively after Toney, but still worth picking up.

Josh gordon is back in the NFL. I was all set to be completely on Gordon after being sucked on several times. I mean, we’re continuing this 2013 season, which was a very long time ago. But then Gordon goes and signs with the Chiefs. Not only has he signed with Kansas City, but he has a chance to adjust as early as Week 5. The Chiefs are looking for a second wide receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. At the moment, they have a rotation between Mecole Hardman, Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson. It is possible that Gordon just slips into this rotation, but if he plays well, he could take over. It is worth taking a leaflet with him.

Deeper options: Amon-Ra St. Brown saw eight targets after scoring 10 in the first three games combined. He caught six for 70 yards. The Lions were looking for a receiver and St. Brown is someone I and others have loved going into the season. It’s a big body slot machine receiver with an edge. He can be added to 12 teams if you have bench room but should be in something deeper. His teammate, Kalif Raymond, also stepped up in Week 4, catching three of six targets for 46 yards and two scores. It’s a deeper league option, but it’s hard to ignore this performance in leagues with 14 or more teams. Randall Cobb had six targets, catching five for 69 yards and two scores. He intervened with Marquez Valdes-Scantling sidelined and Packers coaches spoke to him after the game, saying he could be the piece that helps open Davante Adams as defenses him throw away everything except the kitchen sink. It could be a situation where you add Cobb and it’s his best fantasy game of the season. But, considering what the coaches have said and the fact that Aaron Rodgers wanted Cobb in town, he has a chance to carve out a role for himself as a second target in this attack. It is more of a safe ground game than an upside down game.

Dalton schultz led the Cowboys with eight targets, his second straight week with the most targets. He’s got 15 in his last two games combined. He caught six for 58 yards and a touchdown in Week 4, a week after making six catches for 80 yards and two scores. He has surpassed 17 fantastic points in two in a row and has more than 10 in three of four games this season. The volume is just too good to ignore, and Schultz should be rated as a TE1 in the future. Blake jarwin had three targets, catching one for an 18-yard touchdown. There is a deeper league option for teams that need TE.

Dawson knox has become an integral part of the Bills’ passing game, especially in the red zone. He had eight goals in Week 4, the second biggest on the team. He caught five for 37 yards and caught Allen’s two touchdown passes. Knox now has four touchdowns in his last three games. His fancy points have increased every week – with at least eight in each and all the way up to 20.7. He’s the best tight addition if Schultz isn’t available in your league.

Zach Ertz saw eight targets in Week 4, catching six for 60 yards. That’s a week after having had seven targets, giving him 15 in the past two weeks combined. He has surpassed 12 fantastic points in each of those games. Dallas Goedert has just nine targets in the last two games. Ertz is clearly still a big part of the Eagles offense and, after a slow start, he remains widely available. That will change after the run of the ballot this week.

More in-depth options: Austin Hooper had five targets, catching one for 11 yards. But no one has played well for the Browns as Baker Mayfield struggled mightily in Week 4. Hooper now has five targets in two of his last three and has passed a fantastic nine points in two of those three games. The production hasn’t been great, but there is consistent volume there which is important on the tight end in the deep leagues. Mo Alie-Cox has been targeted five times, tied for second over the Colts. He caught three for 42 yards and two scores. It’s a weapon they like to deploy in the red zone. There will be ups and downs, but in deeper formats any tight end that has a chance to touch down is helpful. CJ Uzomah himself had one day in the national spotlight. He caught five of his six targets for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to that game, he had made four catches for 39 yards during the season. It’s hard to trust him after a big game, especially once Tee Higgins comes back and takes out a lot of targets. But, in deeper formats, it’s worth it.
