Farm Aid returns to Hartford, Connecticut’s Xfinity Theater on September 25 with lineup that includes board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Margo Price alongside Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Bettye LaVette, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Allison Russell, Particle Kid and Ian Mellencamp. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
“The experience of the past 18 months has reminded us how much we need each other,” Farm Aid President and Founder Willie Nelson said in a statement. “I am so happy that music brings us all together at Farm Aid 2021 to celebrate family farmers. When we combine music, family farmers and good food, we have the power to develop the kind of agriculture that makes us all strong. “
The first Farm Aid was held at Champaign, Illinois’ Memorial Stadium on September 22, 1985. It has been held annually since 1992, although they were forced to host a streaming event in 2020 due to the pandemic. The event raised more than $ 60 million for American farmers.
Farm Aid 2018 also took place at Hartford’s Xfinity Theater. “Live performances from artists passionate about farming and good food are the deep roots that support Farm Aid’s work for family farmers throughout the year,” said the Executive Director of Farm Aid, Carolyn Mugar, in a statement. “We are delighted that Hartford is once again hosting Farm Aid after our successful event in 2018. The event will mark Neil Young’s first public performance since Farm Aid 2019 at the Alpine Valley Music Theater in Wisconsin. He spoke in early 2020 about a possible North American arena series with Crazy Horse, but recently told fans he had no plans to book this anytime soon. “Not until the public is safe,” he wrote. “These places are not ready.
