Deadly accident

A Des Moines man died in a collision on Sunday afternoon east of Tama on US Highway 30.

Bin Sei Cho, 23, was heading west on Highway 30 around 4 p.m. Sunday when his motorcycle collided with a transit van driven by Gordon Galloway, 59, of St. Charles, in Illinois.

Galloway was attempting to cross the dual carriageway on County Road V18 in southeast Tama County.

Cho was pronounced dead at the scene and Galloway was transported by Tama Ambulance to UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown with injuries.

According to police reports, the van did not yield while crossing the four-lane intersection.

The Iowa State Patrol received assistance on Sunday from the Tama County Sheriff’s Office, Tama Police and EMS, Belle Plaine Police, Fire Department and EMS, and Fire Department from Chelsea.

An investigation into the accident is currently underway by the Iowa State Patrol.
