Father claims his 3-year-old son was found "absent"

An Oakland father called the police on Saturday to announce that his car had been stolen with his 3 year old daughter inside, causing an Amber alert and a frantic search for the girl. But police said Sunday that the report on missing children was actually a ploy made by the father to get the police to find his car faster – and that the child was safe with his mother all the time. "OPD investigators arrested the father of a 3-year-old father for filing a false police report," the department said in an email and Twitter quoted by the San Francisco Chronicle. "Earlier in the day, the 3-year-old father was older, but by the time the vehicle was stolen, he was safe with his mother. The father lied to the police in the hope that the police will find a car quickly. The father has since been accused of filing a false police report. The police eventually found his car – but the carjacking suspect crushed him after a police chase Saturday night.
