Fauci has a one-word answer to ‘what changed’ question circa January 20

Dr Anthony Fauci finally appeared on “The Late Show” on Friday for his first interview on the coronavirus pandemic with Stephen Colbert.

And the nation’s foremost infectious disease expert, who is President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, wasted no time appearing to cast a shadow over former President Donald Trump – including the politicization of the pandemic Fauci sharply criticized.

“I wanted to have you for a year. We have tried to accommodate you almost every week for a year. We could never have you, ”Colbert told Fauci.

“Around January 20, your schedule really opened up,” the late-night host continued, referring to Biden’s inauguration and Trump’s departure from the White House.

“What changed?” asked Colbert.

“Everything,” Fauci laughed, putting Colbert off.

“Well, I hope that continues to change,” Colbert replied.

Elsewhere in the interview, Fauci said the pandemic would end “absolutely” – it was just a matter of when, depending on immunization programs and who continued to wear masks and social distancing.
