FBI: A serial killer who confessed 90 murders confessed that several murders took place in the Tampa Bay area

TAMPA BAY, Florida – Local law enforcement in Tampa is working to match the confessions made by 78-year-old Samuel Little to testimonies of women found dead in states ranging from California to Florida between 1970 and 2005, the FBI announced.

Members of the FBI's violent criminal apprehension program say Little may not be one of the most prolific serial killers in US history.

A report released by the FBI on Tuesday describes Little's life in violent crime.

Little's clashes with the law date back nearly half a century, but it was only after an arrest in September 2012 that Little was revealed as the monster hiding in the shadows.

In total, the FBI said that Little had confessed to 90 murders and that the agents were still working to match the evidence to as much confession as possible. Until now, the team has confirmed 34 murders and many more are waiting for confirmation. A number of Little confessions are still not corroborated.

Nine of these unparalleled confessions took place in Florida. Two in the Tampa Bay area.

Little confessed to killing a black woman in Plant City in 1977 or 1978 after meeting the victim in Clearwater.

In 1984, the FBI announced that Little had confessed to killing a black woman in the Tampa Bay area.

ABC Action News reporter Michael Paluska asked Tampa police if detectives were trying to solve the unresolved murders related to Little.

"In recent months, we have been in contact with other law enforcement agencies and the FBI ViCAP about Mr. Little. To date, we have not been able to confirm that it is related to any of our unresolved cases. However, we continue to study the possibility, "said Stephen Hegarty, Tampa Police.

On November 15, the Marion County Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page the announcement of the 1982 murder following Little's confession.

"Major crime detectives from the Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) closed the Rosie Hill case in 1982," began posting on Facebook.

The sheriff's office then explained the horrible details of Hill's death: "On Monday, August 16, 1982, at about 6 pm, the remains of Rosie Hill were found in a wooded area off County Road 326, near A pig pen During the investigation, it was determined that his attacker had strangled or choked Rosie. Several witnesses approached and claimed that Rosie had left a bar with an unknown man and that she had not been seen. "

Months later, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Little was arrested for attempted murder, aggravated assault and rape of two prostitutes. Detectives from Marion County then questioned Little but claimed that he did not know Rosie. At the time, investigators had stated that there was not enough evidence "to accuse Little of Rosie's murder and, ultimately, never charged in the # Pascagoula case ".

Fast forward to October 9, 2018. The day Marion County investigators sent Detective Sergeant Michael Mongeluzzo to Wise County Prison in Decatur, Texas, where Little is incarcerated.

"During their interview, Little confessed to killing Rosie Hill and throwing her body. In addition, Little told Sgt. Mongeluzzo that he killed Rosie because "God put it on this earth to do it," said the sheriff's office.

The FBI report details how Little chose to "kill marginalized and vulnerable women, often involved in prostitution and drug addicts. Their bodies have sometimes remained unidentified and their deaths have not been investigated. "

The investigators stated that "Little's method of killing also did not leave any obvious signs that the death was a homicide. The formerly competitive boxer knocked out or knocked out his victims with powerful blows, then strangled them. In the absence of stabbing or gunshot wounds, many of these deaths were not classified as homicides, but attributed to drug overdoses, accidents or natural causes . "

Little is currently serving three life sentences without the possibility of parole for the violent death of three Californian women that he murdered in the 1980s. These are the arrests, along with DNA evidence, that have finally brought Little to confess.
