Two Pennsylvania women were arrested Friday for allegedly storming the U.S. Capitol building in the Jan.6 breach and expressing intent to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Dawn Bancroft and Diana Santos-Smith face three charges of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without legal authorization, violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds.
In a Friday affidavit, an FBI special agent described how cell phone footage, apparently filmed by Bancroft, shows the couple exiting the Capitol.
“We broke into the Capitol … we walked in, we did our part,” Bancroft, who wore a MAGA ski cap, explains in the video. “We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the brain, but we couldn’t find her.”
But when prosecutors questioned Santos-Smith, who is also pictured in the affidavit wearing a red MAGA baseball cap, on January 20, she denied ever entering the building.
They then showed her a video of the two of them in the Capitol, of which she allegedly admitted to having “lied” and said that they did not have “a pre-planned agenda”.

Santos-Smith also said that when she and Bancroft approached Capitol Hill, they heard other pro-Trump supporters shouting, “They are letting us in”, which she claimed to interpret as “authorized.” Although she and Bancroft tried to enter various places, they climbed through broken glass.
Santos-Smith told prosecutors she “knew they shouldn’t be entering the building” and alleged that neither of the women entered any office or either of the two rooms. She claimed the two left “about 30 seconds to a minute” after entering the building through the same window they had entered.

Bancroft, who took the video, sent the footage to his children, then deleted them and advised them to do the same. She provided authorities with additional footage and footage that she took of the day.
