CBS continues to tinker with its crowded derivative bingo card with possible addition of a third FBI series.
Following the news that the Eye Network is shaking the NCIS franchise with the release of NCIS: New Orleans and the possible arrival of NCIS: Hawaii, Deadline reports that CBS has put in development FBI: international. Latest offshoot, said to focus on global FBI operations, would join the series of motherships FBI (currently in its third season) and spin-off FBI: most wanted (currently in its second season).
Depending on the deadline, Chicago fire EP Derek Haas – who briefly served as co-showrunner of FBI – writes the pilot script.
CBS declined to comment.
Late Wednesday, CBS confirmed that NCIS: New Orleans would end its seven seasons on Sunday, May 16. “We have had the sincere pleasure and honor to work on this show and with this incredible cast and crew for over 150 episodes,” co-showrunners and executive producers Jan Nash and Christopher Silber said in a statement. “As disappointed as we are to see the end of NOLA, we couldn’t be more proud of the work we have done and are grateful for the spectacular and resilient Crescent City which has embraced us for seven wonderful years.
