The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating whether a Pennsylvania woman stole a laptop computer from the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during the Capitol siege last week to sell to Russia, according to a new affidavit.
The affidavit, which is part of the criminal case against Riley June Williams, said that in the days following the siege, the FBI received calls from an individual claiming to be a former romantic partner of Williams.
The informant said he saw Williams inside the Capitol building and claimed that friends showed them a video of Williams stealing a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi’s office.
“[Witness 1] stated that WILLIAMS intended to send the computing device to a friend in Russia, who was then considering selling the device to SVR, Russia’s foreign intelligence service, ”the affidavit states. [Witness 1], the transfer of the computing device to Russia failed for unknown reasons and WILLIAMS still has the computing device or destroyed it. “
Special Agent Jonathan Lund said in the affidavit that he had examined footage showing a woman suspected of being Williams ordering rioters to go “upstairs” from inside the building, and that she had also seen in the “little rotunda of the house”, near a staircase leading to Pelosi’s office.

Lund said local law enforcement officials in Harrisburg told him Williams’ mother said she packed a bag, was gone and wouldn’t be back for a few weeks , but did not say where she would go.
“It looks like WILLIAMS has run away,” the affidavit reads.

Last week, it was reported that a laptop belonging to Pelosi’s assistant was stolen, among other equipment, from the offices of several lawmakers. Pelosi’s assistant said the laptop was “only used for presentations” and was taken to a conference room. It is not clear if this is the same laptop mentioned in the affidavit.
Several conspiracy theories have surfaced on the contents of the assistant’s laptop, including false claims that it was taken by US Special Forces because it contained evidence of electoral fraud.
Pelosi’s office did not respond to Insider’s request for comment at the time of posting.
