FC Dallas 1, LAFC 1 | Summary of the match MLS 2019

Just three days after the home win of the LAFC against FC Dallas, they regrouped to secure a 1-1 draw against the same opponent – after playing with a men's advantage for most of the second half – at Toyota Stadium Sunday night.

FC Dallas opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Dominique Badji made a left-wing descent and found a scorer, Ryan Hollingshead, to put in the finish. Badji scored a similar goal two minutes ago, but was called offside after the ball hit the back of the net. (LAFC defenseman Steven Beitashour injured the hamstring while Badji was ready to shoot, forcing LAFC to replace former American international Josh Perez.)

It seems that LAFC found its equalizer chance at the end of the period when Carlos Vela took the challenge against Bressan in front of goal. On the following PK, Jesse Gonzalez, the FCD goalkeeper, guessed, he dipped properly and held Vela off the scoreboard.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Matt Hedges tripped Vela off the edge as he tried to score. Hedges immediately received a red card. Then, 10 minutes later, Jesus Ferreira managed to isolate Tyler Miller, the goalkeeper of LAFC, outside the frame; Miller put an arm around Ferreira to slow him down, but only received a yellow card.

After resisting the assault of the LAFC reinforced by coach Bob Bradley on Adama Diomande and Christian Ramirez, FC Dallas finally succumbed thanks to Bressan who committed a handball in the box. Although Gonzalez again correctly guessed Vela's PK and put his finger on the ball, it was not enough to deny the tying goal and the end result.

Three things

  • THE GREAT IMAGE: While LAFC probably feels lucky to come out of Frisco with a result – their sixth in a row – he has been a man up for nearly half and lost an opportunity for three points. FC Dallas ended a three-game losing streak with the draw, but played well enough to win in enough key games, even with the penalty kill.
  • TIME OF THE MATCH: The red card on Hedges tipped the scales on the side of LAFC; FC Dallas did its best to manage the loss of its center, but it finally caught up with them.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH: Gonzalez saved a PK, almost a second and made five saves, including a shot in the center, on a shot by Diego Rossi, to temporarily preserve the shutout. While he could not win, he did everything he could in a difficult situation.
