The company that makes infant and adult water supplements for Dollar General has issued a voluntary recall. An undissolved ingredient in the product, citrus flavanoid, could cause difficulty swallowing for sensitive babies, according to a statement from the US Food and Drug Administration on Friday, Feb. 15.

Kingston Pharma LLC is the manufacturer of herbal herbal supplement containing Baby Gripe brand organic ginger and fennel extracts. Its suggested uses include treatment of gas, colic and dental flare. The company has received a complaint about a week old baby having trouble swallowing after using the product and three complaints about flavonoid from undissolved citrus, the FDA reported.

The recall concerns all DG Baby Gripe Water batches, packaged in 4 ounce amber bottles, with white plastic tubs. The product was distributed nationwide through Dollar General.

Kingston Pharma advises customers to stop using the product and dispose of it. Consumers should contact their health care provider if they or their child have ever encountered water use problems.
