FedEx abandons Amazon (at least for Express shipments to the United States)

As FedEx has announced to its investors, only 1.3% of its revenues in 2018 came from Amazon. It is ready to serve "thousands" of retailers in the e-commerce space, which is expected to grow from 50 million to 100 million parcels a day in the United States by 2026. "We are excited about the future e-commerce and our role as a leader in this area, "said FedEx. This decision will have no impact on international deliveries or contracts between Amazon and other FedEx business units, such as FedEx Ground.

The news may not be too worrying for Amazon because the company has other carriers to choose from. He also works on his own drone delivery service. Just this week, the group has released new details, hoping that the drones will have a range of 15 miles and the ability to carry packages of less than 5 lbs to customers within 30 minutes. We do not know yet when the fleet will be ready or if the loss of this contract with FedEx would encourage speeding up.

Engadget has contacted FedEx for more information.
