Fed Vice President Richard Clarida will appear on CNBC shortly after the stock market closes. However, the foreign exchange market will still be active, so there will be an opportunity.

We have not heard of Clarida since July 18th, when he gave a good idea that a break would happen with these comments:

  • The US economy is doing well but the uncertainties have increased
  • The Fed will do the right thing to keep the economy growing
  • Data mixed but overall data disappointing
  • Inflation data arrive at the soft side
  • Monetary policy is running late, we are looking at the risks
  • You do not necessarily want to wait for the data to run
  • Basic view indicates PCE core needs to be 2%
  • Need to define a policy for basic view and risk management
  • uncertainty over trade policy hits confidence
  • limit to the extent to which US rates can divert from global

BOE Governor Mark Carney is also scheduled to address the network at 5:30 pm ET. Traders will not be able to react to this before the reopening of markets next week. Carney also speaks to Jackson Hole early.
