LOS ANGELES (AP) – Jay-Z is entering the legal marijuana business as the brand's chief brand strategist, in partnership with a cannabis-producing company in California.

The rapper said Tuesday in a statement that he had signed a multi-year contract with Caliva, based in San Jose, California. His role will be to lead the creative direction, advocacy efforts and brand strategy.

Jay-Z says he also wants to increase the economic participation of people who come back from incarceration through job training and development of the workforce.

The rapper called Caliva "best partner for this company".

What does the Caliva store menu offer in San Jose?

Caliva operates a farm and two stores in Northern California. It also distributes its branded products in approximately two dozen other retail outlets in the state.

The venture capital firm Joe Montana, a NFL legend, participated in a $ 75 million investment in Caliva earlier this year.
