However, in our eyes performance is best measured not in standing start races but on the track. And this is where the SF90 Stradale really shows its potential.
The most powerful road-going Ferrari ever built has just set a new production record at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, arguably America’s most famous circuit. The plug-in hybrid supercar managed to cover the 2,438-mile (3.925-kilometer) circuit in just 1: 29.625 minutes, reaching a top speed of 174.54 miles per hour (280.9 kilometers per hour).
The record was set on July 15 during the Ferrari Racing Days with a more track-oriented version of the hybrid supercar, the SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano. It makes a few race-inspired upgrades over the standard model, including a few carbon fiber exterior components, a titanium exhaust system, and Multimatic shocks.
The car used for Indy’s record-breaking was also fitted with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2R tires, as well as a carbon fiber spoiler at the rear for an additional 860 pounds (390 kilograms) downforce available. at 155 mph (250 km / h).
