The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is one of the fastest cars we’ve ever driven. Even in an age of always-on all-electric torque monsters, the 986-horsepower hybrid supercar is able to distort your perception of how fast cars can go, both on the road and on the track. That’s why we weren’t surprised to learn that the car was able to set a 0-60 time of 2 seconds flat on our sister post. Car and driver test procedures, making it the fastest 60mph car the publication has ever tested.
You can see the race for yourself in the short video posted above. After scoring the bloated 0-60 run, the SF90 Stradale set a 0-100 time of 4.4 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.5 seconds at 148 mph. Car and driver also recorded a 0-150 mph time of 9.8 seconds.
The SF90 Stradale was 0.1 seconds faster than the publication’s previous record holder, the Porsche 918 Spyder. Like the SF90, the 918 is a hybrid that uses two electric motors in the front and a V-8 engine in the rear. They’re similar on paper, except for the lack of turbos on the 918’s high-revving naturally aspirated engine. Surprisingly, the Porsche record spanned a full seven years, beating even newer Bugattis and Tesla, before finally succumbing to the Ferrari.
It should be noted that this time was not set to some sort of prepared drag surface – this was done on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We bet that with stickier tires and a proper drag strip start line, the SF90 could go even faster. We’re curious if any owners are brave enough to find out.
