Fetal Remains Found on Former South Bend Abortion Practitioner's Property

Will Count, Ill. (WNDU) Police said 2,246 remains of medically preserved fetuses had been found on the property of Ulrich George Klopfer, a late-abortion doctor who operated a clinic in South Bend.

Klopfer died on September 3rd.

On September 12, the Will County, Illinois coroner's office received a call from a lawyer representing his family. They reported finding remains of fetuses among Klopfer's personal property and requested their proper removal.

The Will County Sheriff's detectives, the crime scene investigators and the coroner's office representatives went to the address and were directed to an area of ​​the property where there were 2,246 remains of medically preserved fetuses.

The coroner's office took possession of the remains.

According to the sheriff's office, there is no evidence that medical procedures have been performed on the property. The family is cooperating fully in the investigation.

The Indiana Medical Licensing Board decided to suspend Klopfer's medical license for an indefinite term in 2015. He operated the women's pavilion at South Bend, as well as abortion clinics at Fort Wayne and Gary.
