FF Origin trailer has a lot less chaos

Last week, Square Enix released another trailer for Stranger From Heaven: Final Fantasy Origin, it’s coming Souls-as a prequel to the original Final fantasy. And while the project keep looking great, English-speaking fans apparently missed more aggressive references to Chaos, the Stranger from paradise villain whose name became the subject of lots of memory after the game was revealed back in june.

Stranger From Heaven: Final Fantasy Origin protagonist Jack Garland—yes, this garland-is on a mission: screw up Chaos while listening to sick nu-metal jams on his smartphone. He’s not afraid to let everyone know that, either. The first one Stranger from paradise the trailer included at least eight rumbling references to the demonic entity, several of which were just about how excited Jack was to finally put the antagonist six feet underground.

Sadly, the developers at Square Enix weren’t as thrilled with the exaggerated silliness as fans did, prompting someone to completely remove all references to Chaos in the new trailer recently shown at the Tokyo Game Show. As Twitter user Ajya pointed out, the Japanese version of the video still discusses Chaos a lot by name, but the English localization contains only vague allusions to its presence in the dialogue.

“We didn’t really think it was going to cause that much reaction, and it was a little unexpected.” Stranger from paradise producer Jin Fujiwara said The player last week, asked about Chaos memes. “It’s obviously not something we’re very happy about. But I think looking back on where we’re at now, it may have had a slight positive impact if it got people interested. From our point of view, it’s better if no one is paying attention.

Stranger From Heaven: Final Fantasy Origin arrives on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC on March 18, 2022. A second demo is currently available on home consoles and will be playable until October 11.
