WASHINGTON, July 14, 2019 – Fieldsource Food Systems, Inc., a Brea, Calif., Facility recalls approximately 12,953 pounds of diced beef and chicken products due to poorly labeled allergens and undeclared allergens, announced today FSA Food Inspection and Safety Service. The products contain wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
Uncooked, pickled and diced cubes of beef and chicken were produced from June 9 to July 10, 2019. The following products are likely to be recalled: [View labels (PDF only)]
- 20 lb. boxes containing four 5 lb. unmarked plastic bags bearing "NORTHGATE MARKET MARKETED BEEF CUBES" and lot codes 061019 through 071019 shown on the label.
- 20 lb. boxes containing four 5 lb. unmarked plastic bags bearing the "NORTHGATE MARKET MARKETED CHICKEN CUBES" and lot codes 061019 through 071019 shown on the label.
Beef products recalled are assigned the establishment number "EST. 45141 "and chicken products bear the establishment number" P-45141 "within the USDA control marks. These items were shipped to grocery stores in California and used behind the deli counter. This product is not sold uncooked to consumers.
The problem was discovered during routine checks of the labels made by FSIS.
No cases of adverse effect related to the consumption of these products has been confirmed. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may end up in refrigerators or freezers behind the deli counter in grocery stores. Delis should not use the products. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely performs recall effectiveness checks to ensure that recalling companies are warning customers of the recall and that steps are being taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
