A lot of new information on Final Fantasy VII remake hit the internet thanks to the Japanese release of the book Final Fantasy VII Remake Material Ultimania, which has plenty of production material, interviews, and more related to the game’s development. According to a translation of the book, there was even a whole special mission / chapter about Tifa that ended up being cut.
The translation, by Audrey Lamsam, founder and CEO of Aitai Kuji, details a whole bunch of different information about the storyline that was ultimately left on the cutting room floor. Overall, it looks like the content took place immediately before the Don Corneo mission and showed Tifa’s side of the story up to that point. You can check out the translated bits below:
The concept of the level was to show the beginnings of the tragedy that would unfold with the Sector 7 plate and also to show Tifa’s charm as she took on the role of a heroine.
The storyline would start with a rainy scene that would set the mood where you meet Jessie.

The second part of the storyline would show Tifa’s charm, illustrating her thoughts on her friends and Cloud, her heroine strength, bravery, kindness, and style as well.
The characters involved are said to be Barret, Marlene, Jessie and Marle.

This Tifa-centric storyline was eventually cut, but it would also have shown how Tifa obtained one of those three dresses available in the game.
