Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be digital only

Hello darkness, old friend

I know that many of you were hoping for a physical version of Final Fantasy VIII remasteredbut that will not happen. In a press release published by Square Enix Japan, the company confirmed that the next reissue would be an exclusively digital deal. Many had hoped that Play-Asia would publish ads for copies of the boxed game, but these product pages have now been removed.

I guess there is a hope that the United States will get a physical copy, but I will not hold your breath. The same press release makes sure to specifically note on each platform that it will only be digital and that the West usually does not receive a physical copy of things like this. This may be the only way Square Enix could get VIII back in the audience after so long.
