Father's story, son playing Final Fantasy XIV set of live action mini-series
Square Enix announced at the event "Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2019 in Tokyo" Sunday that the Final Fantasy XIV Papa of Light (Final Fantasy XIV: Hikari no Otōsan) the story is redone as a real action movie with a brand new cast. The film will open in Japan on June 21
The film will feature Kentarō Sakaguchi as the son Akio and Kōarō Yoshida as the father of Akio. Other members of the cast include Yui Sakuma as a colleague of Akio, Maika Yamamoto as the younger sister of Akio, Ryūta Satō as senior of Akio at work and Naomi Zaizen as mother of Akio. The actors of the voice for the parts of the film include Yoshino Nanjō, Minako Kotobuki, and Aoi Yūki.
The film will feature a returning staff. Teruo Noguchi (Secret love, Avatar) directs the series and Kiyoshi Yamamoto (AKB Adrenaline Horror Night No Yoru, Tokyo Toybox movies) directs the game parts. Kōta Fukihara (real action Yowamushi Pedal series, live-action Tensai Bakabon ~ Kazoku no Kizuna series) writes the scripts.
The previous Final Fantasy XIV Papa of Light miniseries was created in Japan in April 2017 and was also broadcast on Netflix. Netflix added the series to the United States in September 2017.
Yūdai Chiba starred in the original series, and the current late Ren Ōsugi played the role of the father. Fumika Baba, Yoshihiko Hakamada, Yoshino Nanjō, Minako Kotobuki, Aoi Yūki, and Mako Ishino.
Both live action projects are inspired by Ichigeki Kakusatsu SS Nikki's online blog, based on real-life experiences. The blog tells the story of a father over 60 and his son playing the lead role.
